Mommies To Mommies

Project Development

Blog

Mommies To Mommies had a blog with good content. But it was awkward as heck for her to update it. The blogger frequently had to go into SQL Enterprise Manager and run some commands to update content. This wasn't going to work. We hooked Mommies To Mommies up with a library we have developed from scratch. It's a C# blogging server. We developed a set of classes that expose MetaWeblog API commands from the Mommies To Mommies website so the blogger can do all posting from tools like Windows Live Writer.

Search Engine Optimization

Mommies To Mommies had been around for a few months but just wasn't getting much traffic from organic search. One look at the URL structure explained it. We are strong believers in creating "hackable" URLs. So we spent some time developing regex expressions and setting the site up with a URL Rewriting tool. Now all URLs on the site are very easy to read and don't appear to be dynamic.

Unpolished Look

The site was looking pretty run down. Mommies To Mommies had found a good design on OSWD that they wanted. So we took the design, modified it some to meet the requirements, and converted it into an ASP.NET project, complete with user controls and master pages. This should really simplify future UI changes to the site.
